OSTEO ARTHRITIS TREATMENT
A migraine is a terrible headache that tends to recur and is often accompanied by a feeling of nausea. The pain is usually felt on one side of the head. One may experience flashing lights, zigzag lines, bright spots, partial loss of vision, or numbness or tingling in the hand, tongue, or side of the face. Moving around makes the headache worse. Migraine is associated with disorders of digestion, liver, and sight. Migraine headaches occur sometimes due to great mental tension and stress. Migraine headache patients are typically smart, inflexible, disciplined. Sudden migraine attacks may occur due to overworked muscles in the head and neck and due to continuous stress. The blood flow drops because these tight muscles squeeze the arteries. When the person suddenly relaxes these tight muscles expand and stretch the blood vessel walls. The blood pumped with each heartbeat then pushes the vessels further causing immense pain.
According to Ayurveda, the humour called “Vata” controls the nervous system and brain activity and it is the imbalance of this Vata that causes the diseases. So in Ayurveda Migraine is very similar to “Anantavaata”. There is another condition described in Ayurveda, the “Ardhavabhedak”. However, ardhavabhedak only refers to the one-sided headache and does not encompass migraine completely. Between the attacks, the patient feels perfectly well and leads a normal life. In ayurveda, this condition is known as anantavarta. There is another similar condition which is known as suryavarta. In this later condition, the headache increases as the sun moves up in the sky, and the patient feels normal as the sun goes down. While no medical tests confirm migraine, the diagnosis is based mainly on the above- mentioned symptoms. The specialty of Ayurveda lies in the concept of diagnosing the disease and achieving complete cure. It focuses on the root cause of the disease. Toxins (ama) and aggravation of dosha are the main causes of the disease. So, effort can be made by removing the toxins from the body, (by adopting various purificatory procedures) and stimulating the digestive fire to stop further production of ama and balancing the dosha.
